What is the sane choice?
Imagine we were several hundred years back and you had two choices when it came to food
Option 1 was a free source (once the capture apparatus was created), plentiful, non-toxic and healthy. However, it was seasonal and we would need a way of storing the food for use when it wasn't freely available
Option 2 was a source that was expensive, dangerous to catch, and left a lasting negative impact on our bodies and the surrounding air when it was cooked and eaten. It was plentiful all year round but it, also, would need storage so it could be stockpiled.
Which one would you go for in a sane world? Which is the sane choice?
Obviously, you'd go for the free, plentiful, non-toxic, healthy, and abundant solution, right? Get some cold storage or a salting regime in place and your summer-caught food lasts all year without causing death, damage and lots of other bad things.
Now let's do the same thing but change the subject matter.
Imagine we were several hundred years back and you had two choices when it came to energy sources
Option 1 was a free source (once the capture apparatus was created), plentiful, non-toxic and abundant. However, it was intermittent and we would need a way of storing the energy for use when it wasn't freely available
Option 2 was a source that was expensive, dangerous to retrieve, and left a lasting negative impact on our bodies and the surrounding air when it was retrieved and used. It was plentiful all year round but it, also, would need storage so it could be stockpiled.
Is the answer still the same?
