I’ve had conversations with several people who all look at me and say a variation of the following: “You know, Gary. I understand what you’re saying. But me recycling my tin cans won’t make the slightest bit of difference until China, Russia and America sort themselves out”
The implication, of course, is that small changes won’t take a difference.
China, Russia and America do, of course, have large greenhouse gas emissions. Much larger than we do. But then again they are all much large countries with much larger populations.
But it’s worth reminding ourselves of a couple of uncomfortable truths when it comes to ‘other’ countries.
China has a lower carbon footprint than we do per capita.
